To you my grandson! You are amazing. It has been an amazing ride having you here at gramah Jackie's school. You have reached your full potential each and every day! It's time for you to begin 3rd grade in your neighborhood school. I will miss you. I wanted to give you a message of reflection on the days we've had together.
I have thanked Heavenly Father each day for the blessing of having you and your family visit my classroom. This is a world where there doesn't seem to be enough time for all that my heart desires to do. I desire to be the best Gramah I can be. To learn about my grandchildren, to show my spirit and love to them each day. Because I have to work, it is very hard for me to fullfill the desires in my heart. Having you here at school has been a win win blessing that cannot be measured. I've felt I could give more, be more because you were here.
On the days that you and your family stayed after school to "visit" you spent time writing and illustrating stories, creating alphabet characters, drawing, making puppets, practicing math, reading books, finding joy in the learning process. While other kids were home watching TV or playing video games, you've been here soaking in education, and loving it! I have treasured these times watching you learn.
I have especially treasured all the notes of love you have left for me. I have saved each and everyone of them. They are worth more than silver and gold.
Never once have you wandered around the building bothering teachers, the office people, or the custodians. You've always kept yourself in the right place at the right time. You never once came to me during the school day during learning time or recess. You are a special young man, and I love you so much.
Your teacher is proud of you. You are reading on a 4th grade level. You go to the public library and pick out 20 books, take them home, and read and learn from them.
I thank you Dax, for being here. Teaching is a rough and tiresome journey, but you have made these past few years almost perfect!
When Mr. Bryner said it was time for you to go to your neighborhood school, I knew he was right! There are friends in your ward and neighborhood that you need to meet, making GOOD friends who will bring great joy and blessings to your life. But there was a part of me that hurt so bad. It was my heart. I hadn't prepared myself for your leaving. I went to my classroom, went in my closet and wept and wept. I felt like my happy place was gone.
Looking back, I realize it is not gone. Making good life-long friends will bring YOU great joy and will bring GREAT blessings to my heart, far more than I can ever imagine. I am anxious to watch these tiny miracles in your life as you grow!
Always remember to thank your teachers for all they do for you in the learning process. They are good people who give so much. Always be a good student. Learn and practice good things. Listen to the spirit. Be where your Heavenly FAther would have you go, be His Ambassader. Be an example to your friends, and your teachers.
Walk in the light of our Savior's love.
I love you! I miss you! Come and visit ANYTIME... My door is ALWAYS open!
Loads of Love...Gramah Jackie
